Peak Aspirations
Reach for Your Highest Self
Pause & Practice: Got 30 Seconds?
Here are a few simple ways to honor the solstice today or any day you need to pause at the peak:
Watch the sunset. Go outside, face west, and watch the longest light of the year fade. No phone. Just you and the sky.
Light a candle after dark. The ancients lit bonfires to honor the sun’s power. A single candle carries the same intention.
Write down what’s in full bloom in your life. Not goals what’s already here. Read it out loud. Let yourself feel it.
Step outside and feel the sun on your skin. Close your eyes. Take one slow breath and silently say: I am standing in the light of my own life. Thirty seconds. Let the solstice find you.
What I’m Exploring
I’ve been thinking a lot about cycles lately how everything in nature has a season of growing, a season of fullness, a season of releasing, and a season of rest. And how we fight against that rhythm constantly, trying to stay in “summer” all year long.
The solstice is a beautiful reminder that the fullness isn’t meant to last forever. It’s meant to be felt.
Although I must say in Tucson, we don’t try and stay in “summer” too long. We look forward to the coming of autumn. But I keep reminding myself, “one day at a time,” “one step at a time.” Stay in the present when this day is gone, it will never come again.
An Invitation
If you’ve been looking for a simple daily meditation practice that moves with the seasons not against them I’d love for you to explore Meditations for All Seasons. It’s 52 guided meditations, one for every week of the year, designed to help you stay connected to yourself no matter what season you’re in.
The sun doesn’t rush to its peak. It doesn’t apologize for taking up the whole sky. And it doesn’t resist the turning.
What if you didn’t either?
Happy Solstice.
In Light,
Willow
